Both have done nothing but scare the living daylights out of children, foster a paranoid society, and give the terrorists exactly what they want: terror.
Hurry, everyone! Under your desks! It’s either that or stick your heads back in the sand!

The California Supreme Court declared Proposition 22, a ban on gay marriage passed in 2000, in violation of the state’s constitution. This is a huge victory for Gay people and Californians, making this state only the second in the Union to define marriage between two people, rather than between one man and one woman. Of course, the racist homophobes are having a field day, crying that the CA Supreme Court has violated the mandate of the people. I say fuck them. The only reason they are so involved in what happens in other people’s bedrooms is because they really need to get laid.

I met a man last night with M.S., a disease that eats away at a person’s nerves until they are completely incapacitated and die. He used to be a mechanic. He will never be able to do that again. He trains companion dogs now for people with worse disabilities than his.

This article caught my attention yesterday because I work with developmentally disabled adults. The research in this article has found that there is a possible link between mental illness in parents with autistic children. While this would be great at linking certain genetic qualities to autism, this article worries me a bit and I feel the need to provide some education on the subject.

That’s right, for all you activists out there still insisting that the solution to Virginia Tech could have been saved by a crowded room of scared, untrained students all firing at once, here is a situation that was actually handled correctly!

I understand that praying gives the person who is praying a comfort and peace in a rough situation, but to have a National Day of Prayer so that a bunch of Christians can get together and feel like they are doing something? Ridiculous. If they care so much about the world to sit around and pray, why don’t they go out and pick up trash while they pray, or donate money to a hospice or something? When I want to do something good for the world, I volunteer. Take note, religious nut-bags.

On Google News this morning I found an article called U.S. Shed Fewer Jobs Than Expected in April. My first reaction to the headline and the first paragraph was hopeful. We’ve only lost 20,000 jobs. And according to a related article on NPR, we’ve gained more in the medical field! But should we really be jumping for joy right away? We may be jumping the gun if we do that.
